CLARE HARNARD BOOS, son of Jacob T. and Clara Harnard Boos, was born August 2, 1892, at Grand Junction, and passed to his eternal reward January 4, 1956, at the Rosary Hospital, Corning. His early schooling was at Rolfe. He attended high school at Sioux City, Epworth Seminary and Ames. He began his ministry on the Bloomfield Circuit in 1914. He was admitted on trial in the Iowa Conference in 1915, ordained Deacon in 1917 and Elder in 1920. He entered Iowa Wesleyan College at Mount Pleasant in the Fall of 1916. Here beside his college work he also completed his Conference Courses of Study. Later he took some courses in Garrett Biblical Institute, at Evanston, Ill. On June 21, 1916, he was united in marriage to Effie Jane Maginis at East Dubuque, Ill., a Deaconess and local preacher in the Methodist Church. Together they worked for the Kingdom's interests in the Iowa and Iowa-Des Moines Conferences for 38 years. At the Conference of 1952 Brother Boos was granted the retired relation because of health, but continued preaching at the Brooks-Carbon Charge until the Lord called him. Before he was born his mother and grandmother who were Salvation Army Officers dedicated his life to God. He did not disappoint them when he answered the call into the ministry, thereby saving not only himself but many others. He leaves to mourn his passing his faithful wife, and a son Eugene and his wife, a grandddaughter, Florence Jane Boos, and a grandons, Jerry Melvin Boos, all of Hastings. Services were held from the Brooks Methodist Church January 7, 1956, at 10:30 a.m. and from the Hastings Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Interment was at North Grove Cemetery, Hastings.
