Dewey Dooley, 1898-1971

  Centerville -- Dewey Dooley, a resident of 608 East Van Buren, passed away Saturday at 4:20 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 8 days. Born near Jerome on March 13, 1898, he was the son of Frank and Ollie Close Dooley. He was married to Garnet LaMasney in Ottumwa on Dec. 16, 1927. She survives his passing along with four children, James Dooley of Freeport, Ill., Mrs. Pamela Johnson, Santa Rosa, Calif., Thomas Dooley, Sunnyvale, Calif., and Michael Dooley, Centerville; 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest Dooley, Route 3, Centerville, and Grover Dooley, White Fish, Mont.; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Lawton, Peoria, Ill., and Mrs. Marie Olson, Ottumwa.
  He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Pearl, Earl and Roscoe Dooley.
  He was a veteran of World War I and a retired employee of the Woodward Govenor Co. in Rockford, Ill.
  Graveside services will be held Tuesday, leaving the Johnson Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. for the Jerome Cemetery. Rev. Donald Thrash will officiate.
  The family will be at the funeral home Monday evening from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
